Google maps users spot a Ghost plane in Queensland

A mysterious image of a plane was found on Google maps; users had spotted the downed jetliner on the Cardwell Range, which is located between Townsville and Cairns.

The mysterious image of the plane seems to be settled between two trees.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau also confirmed that they were unaware of any such missing passenger jets in that location; when the image was zoomed, it appeared to be an Airbus A320 or a Boeing 737. CASA said in a statement that "there appears to be a phenomenon called ghost images, and that could be what it is."

Hence the bureau also said that the image was likely to be that of a 'ghost'; these ghost images do appear on Google maps frequently.

Even Google later announced it was a "ghost image," with the Maps satellite image composite of several images.
