He made the remarks during a hearing confirming Eric Garcetti's nomination for the post of US Ambassador to India.
India is one of the difficult neighbors. "If my name is confirmed as US Ambassador to India, I will continue to work with the United States to protect India's borders and sovereignty, as well as to strengthen India's ability to deter attacks," he said.
This will be done through information sharing, counter-terrorism coordination, joint freedom of navigation patrols and military exercises (in which I have participated as a naval officer with my Indian counterparts) and the sale of our best defense technology. He also said that efforts would be made to take the defense partnership between the two countries to its full potential.
He also expressed his desire to work with India to support the bold vision of promoting green energy through the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and Agenda 2030 'Climate and Clean Energy Partnership'.
