The only orthopedic tertiary care centre in Jammu and Kashmir, Bone and Joint Hospital, was destroyed in a fire on Friday night, according to officials.
According to officials, the fire started in the hospital's inpatient section in Barzulla.
As the fire swiftly overtook the whole inpatient department building, hospital personnel, locals, and disaster management officials evacuated the patients and transferred them to other hospitals in the city. To put out the fire, fire tenders were dispatched from various fire stations throughout the city.
Senior officials from a variety of departments, including health and medical education, were on hand to aid with the transfer of the patients to other hospitals in the city.
They noted that the cause of the fire was still unknown.
The orthopaedic hospital was the first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir when it opened in the 1980s.
