A strong earthquake has shaken Indonesia. Its intensity is 7.7 on the Richter scale.
A tsunami alert has been issued off the coast of Indonesia.
The epicenter was reported below the ground, however; no tsunami alert was issued.
At the same time, the European-Mediterranean Earthquake Science Center has reported that the magnitude of the earthquake is 7.7. The epicenter was reported at a depth of 5 km below the earth's surface.
According to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), a magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook the northwest coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra on Friday in May this year.
Earthquakes are always occurre in Indonesia. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said in a statement that the epicenter was reported at 1000 km from the earth surface .
The USGS said the death toll from the quake was low. However, recent earthquakes in the region have raised fears of tsunamis and landslides.
