Ukrainian President Voldomyr Zelensky has now urged the Russian troops to flee from an offensive launched by the Ukrainian forces near the southern city of Kherson, and he vows to reclaim Kherson.
Kherson region, which borders the Black sea, and its provincial capital of the same name, was seized by Moscow's military at the start of the invasion approximately six months ago.
Ukrainian President Voldomyr Zelensky said that fighting was raging across almost the entirety of the region on Tuesday. Still, Russia has dismissed such claims and has stated that the assault has failed.
Ukraine's assault comes weeks after a deadlock in a conflict that killed thousands, displaced millions, destroyed cities, and caused a global energy and food crisis; it also raised concerns about a radiation disaster triggered by shelling near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in the southern region of Ukraine.
