Vladimir Putin's biggest bet

Russia has almost destroyed Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In this episode, Russian President Putin has offered to provide Russian citizenship to all the people of Ukraine, playing a big bet. He signed an order detailing the expedited process for granting Russian citizenship to the people of Ukraine. Indeed, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a document on Monday. According to the news agency AP, it expanded the fast track for Russian citizenship to all Ukrainians. Until recently, the citizenship process was simple only for people from Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk region and Southern Zaporizhia and Kherson region.

Russia controls a large part of these areas. There has been no reaction from the Ukrainian authorities to this announcement by Putin. According to the report, in 2019, the process of granting citizenship was first started for the people of Donetsk and Luhansk, and this year more than 18 per cent of the people of both the rebel-held areas were given Russian passports. Not only this, three months after the attack on Ukraine, this process was started for the people of Zaporizhia and Kherson.

Russian passports were given to people in these areas about a month ago. Russia's bombardment continues in Ukraine's second-largest city Kharkiv, where three people were killed, and 31 others were injured on Monday. Earlier, Russian troops fired three missiles at several important sites in Kharkiv, which Ukrainian officials described as a terrorist act.
