Why are scientists in tension about the new variant of Omicron?

Once again, a new wave of corona (COVID- 19 Fourth Wave India) is being feared from the new mutant of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Another super contagious omicron mutant of the rapidly changing coronavirus is worrying scientists. This is a new cause of concern in many countries, including America and India. Scientists say that the sub-variant BA.2.75 of the Omicron variant of the corona spreads rapidly. How effective the corona vaccine will be on this, nothing has been said. It is unclear whether it may cause more severe disease globally than other Omicron variants, including BA.5.

Matthew Binnikar, director of clinical virology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, US, said it was too early to draw any conclusions. But the Omicron sub-variant BA.2.75 has a higher speed in India. Whether it will be able to surpass BA.5 or not is yet to be decided. Concerns about the new sub-variants have been raised by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology in New Delhi. In its scientific script, Thukral said that new mutants have also been found in India. It is spreading faster than other variants. It has also been found in about 10 other countries, including Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Another concern about the new mutant is that it can neutralize the vaccine or antibodies from the existing corona.

However, experts say vaccines and boosters are still the best defense against severe COVID-19. However, some people are concerned that even the vaccine and booster dose did not prevent people from getting infected. Experts say this is true, but we have seen that the death rate in hospitals has decreased significantly. As more people have been vaccinated, the effect of the corona has also been seen less. Virologist Dr. Gagandeep Kang of Christian Medical College says it may take several weeks to understand how much the new sub-variant of Omicron can affect. The concern over the new variants requires a constant need to track and trace the virus.

Who is getting sick, and how badly?

All this is necessary. We still need to be careful. Seeing the danger of corona, recently, the difference between the second dose of corona vaccine and the precaution dose, which was 9 months, has now been reduced by three months. The Ministry of Health has also launched the Har Ghar Dastak 2.0 campaign for Corona Vaccine in all the country's districts.

Along with the COVID-19 vaccination centers, people's homes are also being knocked. If it has been 6 months since the second dose of the corona, then a precaution or booster dose can be applied. 6 months for a booster dose is for people over 18.
